6.1 Overview

Homomorphic filtering is a generalized technique for image enhancement and/or correction. It simultaneously normalizes the brightness across an image and increases contrast [19]. Variations of homomorphic filtering have been used for RF correction [26][24][5]. Another variation, extended from [32], is presented in this thesis. Therefore, the theory behind homomorphic filtering is described here. Experimental results using the data described in Section 8.2 follow.
