This project is to create a web page which I'll use to grade your other pages. This page should contain your name, an URL which allows me to email you (I shouldn't have to tell you what the URL is called), the assignments (as they show up), and URLs to your pages which complete those assignments.

Don't forget to include an URL to the current assignment.

The format of this page is left up to your discretion. Whatever you'd like as long as you meet the minimum requirements. When designing this page, think of what I'll need to grade your other assignments.

When you're done, email me and let me know the complete URL I'll need to get to your "Grade Page".

How to put an HTML file on S.B.C.C.'s Computer Science Web Server

Note: These instructions assume you know about FTP and a little HTML

Create the directory which will be served.

Use the tool WS_FTP to create a directory inside your user directory on

picard.sbcc.cc.ca.us

This directory must be called

public_html

Note that the directory name is case sensitive. Anything put in this directory will be served by picard out to the Internet.

Create your file using a text editor.

If you use Microsoft Word or some other word processor, be sure to save it as "text", otherwise you'll get a bunch of unreadable characters. If your word processor saves your documents as HTML you can do that too. This file will be saved locally. Be aware that your files will be lost after you log off.

Transfer the file to picard.

Use WS_FTP to transfer the created file into the public_html directory on picard. Since the default name for a file is "index.html", call your transferred file "index.html". You don't have to of course, but it makes specifying the URL somewhat easier.

That's it, you're done! Now send me the URL of your page. Don't forget to send the the whole URL. Your URL will be of the form:

This of course assumes that you're calling your file "index.html", otherwise you'll have to include the file name. The "~" tells the Web Server software to look in the "public_html" directory of the person whose username follows the "~".
