Josh Donn: 2. I am willing to force to game, however, I can't insist on spades until it is confirmed partner has four.
Jill Meyers: 2. I don't think it will go all pass, so I think I will be able to bid diamonds next time around (or maybe not). If I had five spades and four diamonds, I would be more aggressive.
Radu Nistor: 3. I like my hand, so 2 seems like an underbid and 4 is too much with only four so-so spades.
Michael Dimich: 2. Pard will get tapped right away on heart leads. I have enough to bid 2 and will let pard explore further.
Larry Meyer: 2. I'm not broke, so I should respond to partner's takeout bid.
Perry Khakhar: 3. I like my hand a lot. They just found their fit, so here comes 4 (likely a 3-card LR with a side club fit). I best let partner know where we live with a bid that shows my values.

Moderator: This problem seems like something out of a Victor Mollo book.
August Boehm: Pass. This could look ridiculous if we are cold for a minor-suit slam, but hope that bidders go minus in some high spade contract or 3NT. If starved for excitement, 4NT.
Barry Rigal: Dbl. My sympathies to anyone who produced an unusual 4NT call, but I plan to correct 3 to 4, then pass 4.
Kerri Sanborn: 4NT. I'm playing for partner to fit a minor without emphasizing one.
Harrison Luba: 4. Hoping partner can raise.
Michael Dimich: 4. Well, pard has 13 cards that aren't hearts. You can't double holding 1 spade so 4 seems the best bid to bring some noise from partner.
Anssi Rantamaa: 3NT. Hoping partner sees this as minors. A double should guarantee four spades.
Robert Sauve: Dbl. Wish I was playing Fishbein haha. Must act with a 21 count.
Larry Meyer: 3NT. Sounds like East raised with something like K 10, so I'm expecting their hearts to block.
Perry Khakhar: Pass. Here a penalty double would help!!! But unless partner can cooperate (unlikely), and do it for us, we should settle for a small plus!
Paul McMullin: Pass. Pass smoothly, hoping partner picks up on my telepathic request that he reopen with a double!

Janice Molson: 2NT. When I held this hand, I bid 2NT which allowed my opps to bid a grand on a finesse knowing where the K was, so pass is the winner, but I don't learn from my mistakes (at least on the first round of bidding).
Michael Dimich: 2NT. Nothing else so I may as well join the bidder's stampede.
Robert Sauve: Pass. This will be unanimous.
Larry Meyer: 2NT. At these colors, 6-5 come alive.
Perry Khakhar: 2NT. The vulnerability made me do it!
Paul McMullin: 2NT. File under 'Fools rush in'.
Louk Verhees: 2NT. I like to get in there especially at these colors.

Moderator: Since the ACBL regulates (and penalizes) opening bids of 1NT on a singleton 10, the panel must choose an alternative course. There are three possible rebids: 2, 1NT and 2, each with serious flaws.
Larry Cohen: 2. There is no good solution for this nightmare shape and strength, just a question of which lie to tell (or to open 1 or if it were legal, 1NT).
Steve Robinson: 1NT. Of the three possible bids (2, 2 or 1NT), I think 1NT is the best of the worst. My hand and my clubs are not good enough for a reverse.
Sheri Winestock: 2. Of course, a 1NT opening solves this problem. Thanks ACBL. Low (1NT) or high (2)? You can't call me a wimp here. No strong feelings on this one except that you should anticipate this auction and be ready with your rebid.
Michael Dimich: 1NT. Not enough to reverse.
Robert Sauve: 2. Minimum, worst of all evils.
Larry Meyer: 1NT. When choosing a bid that is the least of all evils, take the low road.
Perry Khakhar: 2. Just short of my expected reverse.
Paul McMullin: 2. Despite my shortness in partner's suit, I think that this is strong enough to reverse. Hope I can slow us down if partner gets excited - possibly a poor approach!
Louk Verhees: 2. Annoying hand obviously. Because of intermediates I choose the overbid. If you play reverse Flannery, it's less tempting.

Moderator: This hand came from an online practice session, where South had a tough decision to make.
Amber Lin: Dbl. Seems percentage. You should tend to believe them red on white, so if they rate to make, you'll do better if you go down two or less undoubled. Worst case scenarios: Your partner passes the double or bids 3NT with the wrong hand, and it's ugly, or maybe they bid 3NT when 3 was down if you had passed and you turn a plus into a minus. Best case scenarios: Partner bids 4 or 4 and you make it.
Daniel Korbel: Pass. We we could have a game, but 4 is surely forcing and it will get us overboard too often. Minus 140 is better than minus 300.
Zachary Grossack: 4. Double would be slightly more defensive than this. I don't think we're beating 3 all that often if partner couldn't double, anyway. Not a passer if we can get a lesser minus by going down than allowing them to play a partial.
Michael Dimich: 4. My hand is made for offence and showing I am 5/5 may get us to 5.
Robert Sauve: Pass. West may be trapping. Hope we beat it!
Larry Meyer: Dbl. It's our hand, so they can't play something undoubled, and I've already said enough about my hearts.
Perry Khakhar: Pass. I don't think I have enough values to show my second suit.
Paul McMullin: Dbl. If partner doesn't read this for penalty, I could be in the dog house a while.
Louk Verhees: 4. Nonforcing, I hope. At teams it's an easy pass.
