What's New?From Ken: [2024-08-22]
Vancouver Bridge Centre – August 2024Last game in Kerrisdale: Wednesday, August 28First game at 16th & Burrard: Wednesday, September 4New Location: Canadian Memorial United Church and Centre for Peace (1825 West 16th Avenue), just west of Burrard on the north side of 16th. The No. 33 bus stops right in front. The building is wheelchair accessible. Game Times: Monday to Friday only at 10:30 am. Please note that Monday is a lesson and supervised play and Thursday is a 0-499er game. Open games are Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday. Parking: There are 22 parking spots on the west side of the building. It would be good if these could be left free for the less mobile players and the car poolers. There is parking from 9:30 until 3:00 on both sides of 16th Avenue and on some of the side streets. There are bicycle racks in front of the building and behind it near the Church. Playing Area: The room is downstairs but there is elevator access. The room is smaller than we have had and will only accommodate 15 tables. We can put a few in the hallway if necessary. On Fridays after the game I will need your help to put away chairs and tables, bid boxes, etc. The rest of the week the place can be left set up each day. This is no longer our own space and we have to vacate shortly after each game. Please be mindful of the other users of the facility and keep the room tidy and clean at all times. Lunch Items: We don't have a kitchen so no microwave or fridge. Cups will have to be hand washed. I hope many players will bring their own cup and take it home with them after the game. Hand held foods will work best. Coffee and tea and some hospitality will continue to be available. I am sad to lose the full time facility and our weekend and evening offerings (although this may be possible in the future), but pleased we could find such a well located site. There will be adjustments during the settling in period, but I am confident the new place is a good fit. Thank you to everyone for your continuing support. Ken Lochang Maintained by
