Moderator: Acting on the opponents' failure to claim the master suit, most of the panelists seize the opportunity to bid 1NT.
Mike Lawrence: 2. If partner peeps, I will bid 3 next. The rules should allow for a double to show this hand. Pity.
Steve Robinson: 1NT. I don't like bidding 1NT, but I do have a balanced hand and probably five diamond tricks. Maybe the 10 will be a pusher in spades.
Zachary Grossack: 1. To me, 1 is a one-round force and doesn't necessarily show spades. I'm hoping partner bids 1NT so I can make an invitational 2NT call. My second choice is 1NT. I would make that bid if 1 were game forcing (which it still might be).
David Waterman: 1NT. The opps aren't bidding spades, so I don't think they will be able to run too many.
Christopher Diamond: 1NT. Big fan of 3-card raises, but this doesn't look like one. No spade bidding so NT. Almost good enough for 2NT, but I don't play there.
Ramona Josephson: 2. No fit. Best description of hand. Not perfect!
Aidan Ballantyne: 1. What else? Artificial one round force I hope.
Larry Meyer: 1. With 5 tricks for pard and a couple of 10s on the side, I think we belong in game.
Michael Dimich: 1NT. Every bid decision stinks. I will bow my head gravely, pronounce the 10 is key and bid 1NT.
Arun Chopra: 3. Playing XYZ, my bid would have been 2 to invite but now I would have to make do with a rather inferior 3.
Stephen Vincent: 1NT. Other bids are flawed. Come to think of it, so is this one.
Perry Khakhar: 2. Depends on style! We play that this shows 5+ clubs. In that case 3. Or, 2 which probably plays well enough to get a plus.
Paul McMullin: 2. Yes, it is probably 5 tricks at NT, but I am not bidding it first.
Hendrik Sharples: 1NT. It's matchpoints --- stoppers are for children.
Ig Nieuwenhuis: 1. In my agreements fourth suit on this level is invite-strength but no good bid. Let's continue the conversation.
Allan Simon: 3. I assume we're not playing XYZ and my bid is invitational. Otherwise 2.
David Gordon: 2. This question depends on partnership style.
John McAllister: 1NT. Judging by the opponents' silence it looks like partner has three spades and my diamond tricks are better for NT.
Bob Zeller: 2. At IMPs I would bid 3, but at matchpoints I go for the plus score.

Moderator: You should never play 3NT when you have a void in an unbid suit.
August Boehm: 4. Was partner's 3NT regressive or extra values? In any event, 4 opens up heart possibilities as well as a diamond slam.
Larry Cohen: Pass. The knee-jerk reaction is to pull, but if partner bids this way, he should know what he is doing. If we belong elsewhere, partner should have rebid 2NT. Clubs is the suit where he likely has the most honours.
David Waterman: Pass. This should be unanimous. If partner wanted me to to bid with this hand, he would have bid differently.
Christopher Diamond: Pass. He could have stalled but it sounds like he's got a lot of wastage in clubs.
Ramona Josephson: Pass. Could show five hearts by bidding 4, but partner must have long diamonds (i.e., no 4 card major) so it will hopefully set up.
Aidan Ballantyne: Pass. Respect partner's judgment. If partner had doubt she could use fourth suit. I need more strength to bid on.
Larry Meyer: Pass. I have already told my story.
Michael Dimich: 4. Partner may hold three hearts in this auction.
Stephen Vincent: Pass. Partner could have bid 3 but didn't.
Perry Khakhar: 4. Another style question! We show 15-17 in this sequence with 2NT being mini-maxi. I don’t mind playing 5. So bid out my shape with this minimum that plays best in a suit.
Paul McMullin: Pass. Hoping he does not lose 5 tricks in clubs and spades before he gets in.
Ig Nieuwenhuis: 4. Are we playing fast arrival? Then I'll bid on as this hand opposite short majors will play better in either the long minor or 4 (which I expect him to bid with 3).
Allan Simon: 4. I play that a jump to 3NT in a game-forcing auction shows extras, around 17 points. So even if partner has an otherwise unsuitable hand, 4NT or 5 should not be in danger. I do need to keep 6 in the picture.

Mike Lawrence: 4. . . splinter. My 2 bid did not show a great hand. But it got better. Because I'm willing to bid game, 4 leaves open the possibility of reaching a slam. Two black aces gives us a play for slam.
Steve Robinson: 4. Because my 2 rebid shows a weak opener, partner's 3 is constructive. I have a one-loser heart suit opposite a singleton, so 4 would be a good try if partner has two black aces.
Kerri Sanborn: 3. I have shown weakness by bidding ahead of my partner's potential double of their runout. That said, I have a rather constructive hand. Let's give our best description of where the high cards are. If I had a weak 6-4 hand, I would have bid 2 instead of 2.
Daniel Korbel: 5. Too much to stop below game, not enough for a slam try. Just too bad if 3NT is the spot.
Roger Lee: 3. . . accepts and shows short diamonds. I'll bid 4 if partner doesn't want to play 3NT opposite 2-5-1-5, which is what I think I'm showing. Or 3-5-0-5.
David Waterman: 4. Bidding over the redouble showed weakness, so in context, this is a monster.
Christopher Diamond: 3. Looks like a 6-card suit if he raises. Cheap bid that lets him tell more.
Ramona Josephson: 4. Partner raised clubs, so it's the best suit. Could be enough for game. Best to invite.
Aidan Ballantyne: 3. I think 3 is not forcing but will make a try. Given a club fit and good hearts, 4 on 5-2 may be very playable.
Larry Meyer: 3. Give pard the opportunity to bid 3NT.
Michael Dimich: 4. Lust for slams while bringing partner into the decision making process.

Mel Colchamiro: 4NT. Opposite something like x x x K x x x x x A K x x, we might well make 5. Throw in the J and it would be very likely. It seems unlikely that partner has five hearts and the ability to double 4, yet didn't bid 2 originally. I'll trot out 5 over 5 to give partner a red-suit choice.
David Waterman: 5. 5 might be better --- so maybe I should bid 4NT here, passing 5 and converting 5 to 5 --- but only if we have discussed.
Christopher Diamond: 5. I'd really like to bid 4NT which is extremely unlikely to be natural. Pull 5 to 5 showing the reds. Probably would in real life. They could have a double fit and make 4.
Ramona Josephson: 5. East originally passed, so 4 is obstructive especially in response to an overcall. Partner's first double said: this is ours. Second double is penalty. If they have a fit, we have a fit.
Aidan Ballantyne: 5. Partner suggests values not spade cards.
Larry Meyer: 5. Let's play in our 4-4 heart suit.
Michael Dimich: 5. I think we have the red suits
Stephen Vincent: Pass. Hoping partner doesn't have too many diamonds.

Ig Nieuwenhuis: 5. Feels like an 11-trick game. Lots of trick-taking potential and partner is decidedly not minimum. Over 5 from LHO I'll let partner decide to double or a (forcing!) pass. I'll double 5 from my right.

Barry Rigal: Pass. I was not invited to this party, was I? I made a non-forcing call and the opponents bid game. Partner didn't double, so why should it go down?
Kerri Sanborn: 4NT. As in the previous deal, I want to offer partner a choice. Partner will know I have only three hearts and a club suit. The spades rate to be 6-3 or 5-3, so partner could easily have a club fit. Again, my defensive prospects are weakish. I play that we are not in a force because 3 was not forcing and partner didn't have a chance to pass or bid on.
Zachary Grossack: 5. Toughie. Could pass or double. I think I'm only in this position because I didn't bid 4 the first time --- I think this hand should sure have bid game on the last round. I don't feel right passing, and I think 4NT might be one less club. I would like to make a 'flexible' double, but I think too often partner will pass, not knowing what to do.
Josh Donn: Dbl. Obviously I have no guarantees of beating them, but at this specific vulnerability, my experience is that the opponents are just trying to push us around. We have most of the high cards, so maybe they stepped out of line without enough distribution.
Christopher Diamond: 5. I know it was competitive but I still think I have to do something. Not doubling. So I'll show long clubs so he knows what to do if they bid 5. Again both sides could have a double fit.
