Moderator: The spade bidders make up the majority here, yet none of them actually wants to play in spades.
Mike Lawrence: 4. Solid suit, etc. I hope to hear 4 or 4, which I will take as a cuebid. Will then follow with 5.
Jill Meyers: 3. If partner can bid 3NT, I'll take my chances there, and hope partner doesn't have a diamond void.
Jeff Meckstroth: 3. I don't want to give up on 3NT yet. I won't bid 2 because I have zero interest in playing spades.
Josh Donn: 2. I don't really want to play in spades, but how is partner supposed to be of any help if he doesn't know I have spades on the side?
Aidan Ballantyne: 2. I can bid diamonds again later.
Christopher Diamond: 2. Going for the Matchpoint Nirvana if he can bid NT.
Larry Meyer: 3. Asking pard to bid 3NT if he has a heart stopper.
Andrew Krywaniuk: 5. Even if we found a spade fit, this hand is likely to play better in diamonds.
Perry Khakhar: 2. Due to lack of negative double, this shows spade cards and is forward going. Forcing to 3. I hope pard can bid notrump, so I can raise! Having the higher ranking suit provides a little safety from the Center opponent!
Hendrik Sharples: 3. Give partner a chance to show spades. I'll correct clubs to diamonds till the cows come home.
Ig Nieuwenhuis: 2. . . and after this show of strength I will insist on diamonds.
Timothy Wright: 2. I could blast 5 but partner has room in her hand to make 6 a favourite.
David Gordon: 2. Show the second suit.
Kf Tung: 3. You want to play 3, and partner can convert to 3N, for example, with 3 kings.

Moderator: The majority drive to a slam via 5NT.
Barry Rigal: 5. Driving to slam with spades and another suit. 5NT would be the minors. Not sure how to bid this scientifically, but I don't think partner will ever take us to the grand if we can make one.
Steve Robinson: 6. I would like to play 4NT as Blackwood here, but I think it's a choice of minors. Therefore I will assume we're off the A and that 6 is the limit. You really have to have clear understandings here.
Kerri Sanborn: 4NT. Looks like we have three reasonable advances. We need to define 4NT, 5 and 5, and which ones show or deny a control. Also, which are slam tries or forces or attempts to reach a grand. Most high-level partnerships have agreements on the meanings of the various bids. I would say 5 is asking for a heart control; 5 probably brings two suits into play. And 4NT should be old-fashioned Blackwood, which when followed bvy 5NT, asks kings up the line.
Zachary Grossack: 5NT. I have two areas of concern: a heart control (necessary) and trump strain (perhaps not necessary), and I don't think I can find out about both at the same time. So my plan is to follow 5NT with 6, hoping to show a grand-slam try in spades without first-round heart control. With a grand-slam try with first-round heart control, I bid 5 and then 6.
Aidan Ballantyne: 6. If they bid 6 I will bid 6. Not cue-bidding hearts as pard is going to think I have first round control when I follow up with a small slam bid.
Christopher Diamond: 5NT. I think 5 should be modified Blackwood here. But no one else seems to.
Larry Meyer: 5NT. Pick a slam.
Andrew Krywaniuk: 5NT. I don't know how to pick which slam-forcing bid to choose.
Perry Khakhar: 5. 6 is easy, but I need to show extra playing strength. Cue bid will hopefully convey that and we can bid the grand.
Hendrik Sharples: 4NT. Two places to play. Will bid 6 over 5, and 5 over 5.
Ig Nieuwenhuis: 5. Slam force. Debated 5NT but this leaves room for either correcting clubs to diamonds and spades or asking for first round heart control over 5 (I am assuming pard has the A).
Timothy Wright: 4NT. This is the 'two places to play'-4NT. I finally get to use it!
Allan Simon: 5. Will correct to diamonds if partner bids the expected 6.
David Gordon: 5. Force to slam.
Louk Verhees: 5NT. It is too difficult to find out if partner has the 3 keycards (or heart void). Therefore just try to get to best strain.
Bob Todd: 5. Easy correct of 6 to 6.
Kf Tung: 6. 13 tricks has some chance, 12 tricks almost certain. Do not give a tour guide for them to save in 7.

Moderator: The vast majority opt to use the green card.
Roger Lee: Pass. Maybe they're stealing, but I don't feel a strong desire to get involved opposite what could be not much.
Mel Colchamiro: 2NT. Pick a suit. I'm denying four cards in hearts or five cards in clubs.
Sylvia Shi: 3. Well, I passed the first time. I have 7 high-card points and I am certainly not passing now. I don't love bidding my four small, but I have to do something so here we are.
Aidan Ballantyne: Pass. My 7-count is nothing to get excited about, unless pard bids again.
Christopher Diamond: Pass. He was basically forced to reopen with shortish spades so could have a minimum. If I was sure 2NT was takeout so I could almost guarantee a 4-4 club fit I'd bid that.
Larry Meyer: 3. Hoping to land in a 4-4 fit.
Andrew Krywaniuk: 2NT. This can't be natural, so it must be clubs with a diamond tolerance.
Perry Khakhar: Pass. Partner's double shows a solid opener. We hope to beat this contract, but if partner shows more by reopening again, I will pass.
Hendrik Sharples: 3. Unpleasant, but need to show some values.
Ig Nieuwenhuis: Pass. Most likely partner is 1453, though 4-card clubs possible. However, we might go plus on defense with no makeable contract our way.
Timothy Wright: 3. I want to compete here, but want partner to pick the right minor.
Allan Simon: Pass. I would have doubled at my previous turn.
David Gordon: Pass. Not quite enough to move.
Louk Verhees: Pass. Partner doesn't need (for now) to have a real hand. Could even be 2443.
Kf Tung: 3. You have some strength, you don't want to defend 2 and you don't want to play 2N. Partner can pass, bid 3 or 3N as appropriate.

Moderator: The auction ran off the rails before you got to show your spade fit. Now you have an awkward 5-level decision.
Larry Cohen: 5. Yes, I know all the adages about the five level, but I've just got to show my support.
Zachary Grossack: Dbl. At matchpoints, I think I have a lot of equity in the board by scoring 800, which is quite possible, if not probable. Most people nowadays are overly aggressive when white on red, and I have no idea if we belong in 5 or 6 or even hearts. For me, it's a tougher problem at IMPs, where missing slam could be a disaster.
Drew Becker: 5NT. My ace-queens look well-placed over the overcaller, so I think we'll have some play. I'll pass 6 and correct 6 to 6.
Aidan Ballantyne: 5. Pard's pass encourages more bidding. I'm overdue to show my spade support.
Christopher Diamond: 5NT. Pull 6 to 6. Finesses should work and any cards pard has should be working.
Larry Meyer: 5. If pard has A Q, K, and K, there could be 12 tricks. Expect him to be missing one of those cards.
Stuart Carr: 5NT. Pick a slam.
Andrew Krywaniuk: 6. Presumably this is a forcing pass situation (besides, my red suit tenaces are favourably placed).
Perry Khakhar: 5. With the vulnerability, we would have to beat them 4 to surpass a mere game bonus. The belated raise should show about this hand, give or take the Q. Maybe partner can find a slam!
Hendrik Sharples: 6. Any needed finesses should be working.
Ig Nieuwenhuis: 6. He should have enough for a slam as he rates to have more than just an ace, a king and a queen. Will correct 6 to 6 to show that I am aiming for a major.
Timothy Wright: 5. That 5 bid is annoying--Blackwood here would be helpful. I worry about bad breaks in 6.
Allan Simon: 6. Partner's pass is encouraging.
David Gordon: 6. I will pass a 6 bid, otherwise I will follow up with 6.
Louk Verhees: 5NT. Aggressive choice. Opps have no HCP, so a lot of clubs. Just need the right 9 HCP for slam.
Kf Tung: 6. You have a slam. Will it be 6 when partner has 5 spades and 5 diamonds?

Moderator: The panel go for all the matchpoints with 3NT.
Steve Weinstein: 3NT. . . what I would have bid if East had passed. His bid didn't make it worse.
August Boehm: Dbl. I have a good lead and a promotable spade. Besides, this may be the path to 3NT.
Mike Lawrence: Pass. Bidding over 3 is not good partnership bridge. What am I to do? Bid 4? Double? 3NT? None of these feel appetizing. Because my values feel about par for three vulnerable clubs, I'm OK with letting partner do whatever suits him.
Aidan Ballantyne: Dbl. Clubs are not good enough to bid 3NT.
Christopher Diamond: Dbl. He forced so I assume double here shows something in spades and disinterest in hearts. Which, for once, describes my hand.
Larry Meyer: Pass. Partner will have a chance to bid again.
Andrew Krywaniuk: Pass. I'm not sure why this is even a problem. If partner coughs twice to show the A then I guess I bid 3NT.
Perry Khakhar: Pass. I'd feel better doubling 4. No comfort in doubling 3.
Ig Nieuwenhuis: Pass. Partner is captain and I don't have support for his major.
Timothy Wright: Pass. I'm off the hook! Seriously, this gives partner the chance to bid 3NT.
Allan Simon: Pass. Who knows? Maybe West will bid 4.
David Gordon: 3NT. Show my spade stopper.
Louk Verhees: Dbl. . . otherwise pass. Third choice is 3NT, but pard can bid that over Dbl.
Kf Tung: 3NT. Any other bid and miss 3NT, partner will be upset.
