Moderator: Almost half the panel choose the ever 'flexible' double. The other half bid a 'practical' 3NT.
The Sutherlins: Dbl. There is no good suit or notrump bid to describe this hand. We are left with double, which gives us the best chance to reach the right spot.
Barry Rigal: 3NT. I have no idea what to do. Double tends to be extras and shortish clubs, so that is out. No way to bid the hand sensibly, but this is my best guess.
Steve Robinson: 4. I can't think of a better bid. I'm not sure what 4 would do. I could bid 3, but what would that accomplish? 3NT would need heart help, so might as well play in hearts.
Andrew Krywaniuk: 3NT. I should have a decent chance of keeping East off lead.
Michael Dimich: Pass. I have 4 tricks in defence but my the stiff A is a communication liability. If partner re-opens with a double or 3, I can bid 3NT.
Stephen Vincent: Dbl. Least misdescriptive bid. Partner can see the vulnerability too and will no doubt do the right thing.
Larry Meyer: 3NT. Sounds like pard doesn't like my hearts, I don't like his spades, we should have game values, and I have clubs stopped.
Mike Roberts: 3NT. I bet I can make this.
Ig Nieuwenhuis: 4. Hoping to find some useful cards in dummy as 1 was bid freely.
Plarq Liu: 3. . . showing my more than minimum strength.
John Gillespie: Dbl. Trolling for a doubleton heart with partner. Will go low if I don't buy it, slam try if I do.
David Gordon: 3NT. I would Dbl if equal vulnerability or if they were red.
Chris Diamond: 3. Give him a chance to tell me more.
Beverley Candlish: 3NT. I hope that I can get to partner's hand.
Kf Tung: 3. Move on. I have cards in diamonds too.

Moderator: There are basically two schools of thought as to how to show hearts in response to partner's takeout double when righty has the temerity to bid your suit first: double the opponent's 1, or bid 2 yourself.
Wafik Abdou: 2. The spades are too weak to bother with and double is ambiguous here. I would double if we had a clear agreement that it would be for penalties.
Steve Weinstein: Dbl. My lead, right?
Andrew Krywaniuk: Dbl. Expose a possible psyche. There will be time to bid spades later.
Michael Dimich: Dbl. Double exposes the potential psyche. The hand isn't quite good enough for 2.
Ian Greig: Dbl. If 2/2 - Pass - Pass comes back to me, I'll bid 2 - risks understating hearts and overstating spades. An immediate 2 (natural) risks losing spades altogether; an immediate 2 (forcing to suit agreement) overstates values on a hand where suits might be breaking badly.
Stephen Vincent: 2. Showing 5 hearts and exposing East's likely psyche.
Larry Meyer: Pass. I'm not bidding those spades, and a double by me would show both spades and clubs.
Mike Roberts: 2. Too much of a danger of a crossruff in spades. I don't think I mind the 4-1 break.
Joel Forssell: Dbl. Penalty.
Ig Nieuwenhuis: 1. Feels like a partscore battle with good chances on a heart lead to score either hearts or ruffs with small trumps.
Plarq Liu: Pass. Trap Pass.
Paul Mcmullin: 1. Was East's 1 a psyche?
John Gillespie: 1. Decent offensive shape, shame about the spades.
David Gordon: 1. I would dbl to show hearts with fewer than 4 spades.
Chris Diamond: Dbl. Does anyone psyche anymore? Can get that alleged spade suit in later if I have to.
Kf Tung: Dbl. I have hearts!
Amiram Millet: 2. Covering a psyche or partner holding a strong black 2-suiter.

Moderator: With the known big fit in clubs, the majority of the panel invite in spades.
Larry Cohen: 3. . . a slight underbid, but I am devaluing my K. I have too much for 2, but not enough to insist on game. Especially at this form of scoring, I am not introducing my 20 points-a-trick clubs.
Geoff Hampson: 4. This hand might belong in clubs, or even notrump, but I think 4 is the most likely game, and it will be difficult to find if I don't bid it now.
Daniel Korbel: 4. It's important to play this hand from our side, so my choices are 3 and 4, and we can't risk partner bidding clubs first. Any time partner has 2 spades, we probably want to be in spades; we might even survive playing opposite his singleton. But wave goodbye to the club suit if we bid 3 now.
Roger Lee: 3. I think we have enough to force to game, so I will just cuebid. I'm pretty happy to hear any bid from partner. It's worth the risk of wrong-siding a club contract.
Allan Falk: 3. It's not like the K has gone up in value. Until I hear further from partner, I'll bid a suit in which I am confident we have a fit; otherwise, partner is going back to spades . . . or I am. 2 is not enough, but 3 is too much.
Andrew Krywaniuk: 3. Give partner room to show a spade fragment or a heart stopper.
Michael Dimich: 2. Matchpoint scoring favors being in a partial major contract.
Larry Meyer: 4. Show pard that I have a hand with extra values and club support.
Mike Roberts: 4. I think, even at pairs, that we've got to try the minor sometime. Must right-side this.
Ig Nieuwenhuis: 4. . . to force in our best fit (club contract needs to be in my hand). Minimal partner should just raise to 5.
Plarq Liu: 3. Showing my extra shape.
John Gillespie: 3. Matchpoint greed: clubs are for kids.
David Gordon: 3. I will give up on 3NT to play 4 or 5 . . . hopefully from my side.
Chris Diamond: 3. Bid clubs in preference to spades in case we're aiming higher there. Tempted to jump but the K is devalued.
Beverley Candlish: 2. I know we have a game somewhere so I will bid 2 showing my 6 card suit and see where it goes from there.
Kf Tung: 2NT. If pard can bid 3NT then West will be on lead.
Amiram Millet: 3. Even 6 is possible.

Moderator: Almost every panelist makes a move towards the Cinderella slam.
Geoff Hampson: 4. Partner has shown a game-going hand facing a one-level negative double, and I have a monster and a spade control. So I show my spade control on the way to slam.
Don Stack: 4NT. There is a lot of extra strength that partner doesn't know about. My non-forcing 4NT shows the extra goodies.
Steve Robinson: 4. Partner cuebid to show a good hand. I'll support his clubs now. We could easily belong in 7.
Mel Colchamiro: Pass. Partner's delayed 3NT screams 'diamond singleton', so I don't think there is a club slam. Even if there is, I'm probably in for a 35% to 40% board. If my diamonds were headed by the ace, I'd think differently.
Andrew Krywaniuk: 4. Pattern out whilst making a move towards slam.
Michael Dimich: 4. I've shown 5 diamonds/4 hearts. I may as well show 3 clubs and 1 spade. Partner can bid 4 as Redwood.
Ian Greig: 4. Willing to pattern out, just.
Stephen Vincent: 4. Partner presumably has a running club suit: hopefully he will cuebid an Ace now.
Larry Meyer: Pass. If 3NT seems like a reasonable place to park, you should stop there.
Mike Roberts: 4NT. Discounting the Q.
Ig Nieuwenhuis: Pass. Partner said this is best. 4NT is an option to explore his values, but the misfit makes me wary.
Plarq Liu: 4. Partner has heart support, bid game and see if partner has extras.
John Gillespie: 4. It's worth a try, patterning out with the ability to stop in 4NT in a pinch.
David Gordon: 4. 2 = game force. 3NT shows fewer than four hearts. Show your club fragment. Maybe partner has 5 of them and you can get to 6.
Chris Diamond: 4. Bid out my shape and make a slam try.
Beverley Candlish: 4. Investigate for slam.
Kf Tung: Pass. Choose 3N because it is matchpoints. Most of the time it scores 630.
Amiram Millet: Pass. Should possibly make.

Moderator: Many panelists suck it up and pass. Ooh, scary. But then it's matchpoints, and one bad board is just one bad board. Should have made it IMPs.
Jill Meyers: 2NT. I hate this problem. I am tempted to pass because partner could have 3 clubs and it is matchpoints after all. If partner had 5 good diamonds, I think they would have bid them, and partner certainly does not have a 4-card major. I feel a bit stuck.
Mike Lawrence: Pass. Someone will get a top. I think my partner should bid a major if he has one. So where is our home? I've seen players abuse this redouble. Sometimes they turn out to have trash along with that club honor. I expect to be the one getting the top more than half of the time. Favorable odds.
Kerri Sanborn: 2. What an ugly choice. If lefty truly has a raise, I can't see passing for penalty. Partner's most likely shape is 3-3-5-2, so let's get a ruff in the short hand. The opponents don't know that we are in a poor contract. Maybe they will bid again.
Andrew Krywaniuk: Pass. Gotta trust partner's pass (thank god it's matchpoints).
Michael Dimich: 2. Should be universal.
Ian Greig: Pass. Light, space-consuming bids of 2 over 1 can be very effective - so we'd better try punishing opponents once in a while. A trump lead against either major is probably not going to be pleasant.
Stephen Vincent: 2. Partner's failure to bid marks him with a likely 3352 distribution.
Larry Meyer: 2. I can't see setting 2, so bid my cheaper escape suit.
Mike Roberts: 2. It looks like partner is 3352. I want to make the bid that discourages him over 3.
Ig Nieuwenhuis: 2. I expect a minimal 3352 with partner. Proceeding cautiously seems best.
Plarq Liu: 2. Cheapest rebid.
Paul Mcmullin: Pass. Luckily, this is matchpoints - I've earned a zero before.
John Gillespie: 2. This auction does not exist in my partnership unless they psyched.
Bob Todd: 2. I don't believe partner is 3325 with no place to go. Passing is too top/bottom.
David Gordon: Pass. Partner is likely 3-3-5-2 shape. No fit. Try for +200.
Chris Diamond: Pass. OK I want to double but apparently all my red and blue cards have disappeared.
Beverley Candlish: 2. I told my story. I will just put partner into 2 and see what happens.
Kf Tung: 2. 1N is no longer available and 2 is the next fortress.
Amiram Millet: 2NT. Suggesting 3NT.
