Moderator: A hand too strong to bid 3, too distributional to double, and while two-suited for Michaels, the good spade suit might favour the direct jump to 4.
Julien Levesque: 4. Call it crazy, but sometimes to let partner know about a dual suited hand Spades and minor, of that nature it would seem right to let partner have an option. Should partner prefer the minor he has 4NT available and possibly more.
Eugene Chan: 3. No problem now. Could get interesting as auction develops.
Mike Roberts: 4. You gave me the 9 for a reason, right?
Bj Trelford: Dbl. If partner passes I am happy. If partner bids clubs I will bid diamonds showing a two suiter.
Chris Buchanan: 4. Shows a good hand. The problem with double is partner will likely convert and I do not like this hand for defense.
Bob Todd: 4. Hopefully partner does not play me for too much. Wrong for 3 and 4 and double.
Gilbert Lambert: 3. If partner has what I need to make game, he will (should) raise to four.
Martin Henneberger: 4. Hope this shows this hand.
Chris Diamond: 4. Hate it but everything else looks worse.
Adam Melzak: 4. I can't imagine much else here...which probably means that correct bid is south african cuebid stayman 4.
Paul Mcmullin: 4. I will correct 5 to 5, will raise 4 to 5. Blackwood doesn't do me much good when all I need is a couple-o-kings for slam.
Loring Windblad: 3. A quandary here. Your hand just about lays down at 3. You also have outstanding support for diamonds. In either suit it would not take much on Partner's part to produce a game or a slam in either suit. So Doubling for takeout is likely the preferred option.
Susan Peters: Dbl. Then bid spades if partner bids clubs. If pard bids D then cue bid 4.
David Breton: Dbl. Better than 4. If partner passes they'll think twice before getting in our auction at those colors next time.
Kai Zhou: 4. The natural bid with a 4 loser hand.
Peg Mcshane: 4. Hopefully my partner has something.

Julien Levesque: 2. after a 2 response, rebid 2 indicates =Spades + 1 or both minors 4+ each
Eugene Chan: Pass. Lack of intermediate spots favours PASS.
Mike Roberts: Pass. Yes it's IMPs, and yes we're vul, and we might make 4. It feels like it's almost better to transfer (then pass) than Stayman.
Perry Khakhar: Pass. What is the issue?
Bj Trelford: Pass. If I bid stayman partner will bid hearts. Some might take a chance and get lucky. I am not lucky.
Chris Buchanan: Pass. Need the perfect hand from partner for game.
Gilbert Lambert: 2. According to wisdom, you should try for 40% vulnerable games. Here goes!
Martin Henneberger: Pass. No safety in any other action. If the opps have hearts and enter the auction I'll make a negative double.
Adam Melzak: Pass. Lousy spots, no heart suit... hmmm Stayman anyone? I think not.
Paul Mcmullin: Pass. Change all the '4's to 'T's, and I'll consider stayman/inviting.
Susan Peters: Pass. If hearts is partner's only 4 card suit then we should be ok. Don't really want to be forced to play in a 4-3 or 4-2 spade fit. Don't have a MSS stayman bid in SAYC.
David Breton: Pass. Seriously behind in the match, I'd try 2 and raise to game if partner super-accept.
Kai Zhou: 2. It seems we can receive more benefits than passing.
Peg Mcshane: 2. He might like spades but if he likes hearts I go to 2.

Moderator: Although the majority make up a 3 bid as trying for 3NT, I doubt partner would field it as anything but a 5-card major. On the deal this came from, partner would raise to 4. ?Now what? If partner has stiff Q or xx in clubs, our Jxx rates to be a stopper. 3NT gets my vote at IMPs; Pass at Matchpoints.
Eugene Chan: 4. Too good to pass. Anemic spades not worth bidding.
Mike Roberts: 5. Can't pass, can't bid a major. Not quite strong enough for 4 (I'd bid that with the K as well). 3NT is a good gamble, but still a gamble. AKx xxx AQxxxx x can claim on the criss-cross squeeze.
Perry Khakhar: 3NT. Out of space and time to get to the most likely game. Hope Partner has at least Qx of C! I would hate to play a 3-3 H fit at the 4 level or higher.
Bj Trelford: 3. Hope partner raises or bids 3NT. If partner rebids diamonds I pass.
Chris Buchanan: 4. Not going to hang partner for balancing. Bidding 3 is tempting but could lead to trouble.
Bob Todd: 3. I owe partner a bid. I will know what to do over 3, 3N, 4 and can decide what to do over 4. I don't expect any other 3 biddiers but I think it is the best choice unless it goes pass.
Gilbert Lambert: Pass. Enough is enough.
Martin Henneberger: 3NT. I'm going for 9 tricks with a game bonus...good pards have the Q.
Adam Melzak: 3. 3NT anyone?
Paul Mcmullin: Pass. Might have more to think about if vul.
Loring Windblad: 3. Temporizing call showing the stoppers to allow Partner a 3NT game if he holds a club and spade stopper. Expect to be able to correct to D at the next bid if NT is not an option.
Susan Peters: 3NT. And hope partner has a partial club stopper.
David Breton: 3NT. Stoppers schmoppers, I've learned my lesson.

Moderator: 2 was aggressive, but after partner's free 4-level action, did your hand get even better than you promised?
Julien Levesque: 4. Not the best option , but we have a big fit in C/D. I tell them about the stiff spade.
Eugene Chan: 5. Partner should have minor 2 suiter asking for preference. I prefer clubs!
Mike Roberts: 4. A wonderful 8 count, but still an 8 count. The middle of the road action feels right - if partner tries for slam, I'm there. 4 agrees clubs, so that's out.
Perry Khakhar: 4. Might be a temporizing bid if Partner has a huge minor 2 suiter. Over 5 of a minor, I bid 6. Typically, with a lesser hand, Partner would have some thing like K x and A. So play him for it first.
Bj Trelford: 4. I prefer diamonds to clubs. 4 could be a q-bid in support of hearts. I don't want to jump to 5 in case P has hearts. I will find out.
Chris Buchanan: 5. Partner is 5-5 or 6-5 in the minors. Partner is also likely 2-0 or 2-1 in the majors so rebidding my anemic heart suit is out. It never hurts to support partner.
Bob Todd: 5. Good hand for partner - but I did bid 2. Pd must be at least 5-5 or 6-4.
Gilbert Lambert: 5. With Peter Morse, I bid 5. With Brad Bart...I don't know. Is there a bid that ask pard to bid 5 of his best minor? What is 4? Cue for clubs? Tough hand.
Martin Henneberger: 4. If i had started with neg dbl and pd bid 4..then 4 stands out. Here I've already overstated my values so 4 seems like overkill....
Adam Melzak: 5. What's west got for his cuebid? Is pard 6-5 in the minors? I hope so; prefer this action to 4 or 5.
Paul Mcmullin: 4. I'll follow with 5 if west bids 4, which is where I THINK he was going with his 3 call.
Loring Windblad: 4NT. Blackwood asking for Aces, with Diamonds the intended trump. With 1 ace you can stop in 5; with both you can likely safely proceed to 6.
David Breton: 4. Rule: When you can't figure out what's going on, make the cheapest bid.
Kai Zhou: 4. Now need to consider slam.
Ranjan Bhaduri: 4. Not really sure what West's 3 bid meant. Are North's bids natural - showing both diamonds and clubs? Or does North's 4 bid imply a heart fit?

Moderator: The passed-hand opps have hijacked your auction. Is it too risky to bid vul, or is the lure of a vulnerable game worth the risk?
Mike Roberts: Dbl. Wouldn't 3NT unusual be nice here? But it isn't. 4 feels too committal, and partner has to trust me to pass balanced 18 counts here.
Perry Khakhar: Pass. There is no reason to expect that this is your hand. On a good day, you may be able to beat 4. You have a Partner at the table, the next move if any, is his. If partner passes, you can chalk up win 5 on your card.
Bj Trelford: 3NT. Minor take out bid. 3NT can not be to play.
Chris Buchanan: Dbl. Simply too much to pass. Over 4 by partner I am pulling to 5.
Bob Todd: 4. 3N is too dangerous.
Adam Melzak: Pass. double? 4? 4? Valium anyone? ok.. 4 is tempting.
Paul Mcmullin: Dbl. I would have strongly considered opening 2, so it doesn't seem right not to bid SOMETHING here.
Loring Windblad: 4. Your partner likely has 2 and the opponents have 5 hopefully split 3 and 2. There is a good chance you can set the opponents at the 4 level but 4 is also likely a very safe contract.
Patti Adams: Dbl. Partner will bid hearts, and I can correct to clubs.
David Breton: 4. It should be clear to pard that there's a lot of shape around the table. He'll know what to do (or not do).
Kai Zhou: 4. Need A and Q from pd to make game, not a bad gamble by bidding 4.
