At our organizational meeting, the 11 people present identified three
possible meeting times. The best choice among these three appears to be
Fridays 11:30-12:30. The first meeting will be next Friday, October 5
at 11:30 in the Theory lab - ASB 10820. I will give an informal talk.
Would somebody like to volunteer to be in charge of the October 12
meeting?
It would be good if we could eventually extend the time to 90 minutes by
either starting 30 minutes earlier or ending 30 minutes later. The reason
for the extra 30 minutes is that I would like to provide some food (pizza
for example) at some of these meetings. We can discuss this during our
October 5 meeting. Note that there is a convocation reception in the ASB
atrium on October 5, 12:00 to 14:00 and there will be food at the reception.
I have asked to have an account and mail-list set up for this group. When
it is ready, anybody will be able to e-mail to the group. I'll let you
know when it is ready. If you know somebody who should be added to the
mail-list, please let me know.
Luis Goddyn has set up a web page with information about discrete
mathematics activities at SFU (discussion groups, seminars, etc.).
The Network Modelling group is one of the groups listed. If your interests
in network modelling are in the discrete mathematics direction, you might
