As you read chapters 3-5, consider the following questions. After you are done, write up your answers (please type to make it more readable) and turn them in Thursday (with your name on them). These answers whould be short---at most a page total.

Sampling

You want to study the usability of the TeX formatting system. What would be a representative sample of users for this system? What are some of the secondary properties that might affect the outcome? Could you do random sampling? If yes, how? If no, how might you get a representative sample?

Imprecision and Confidence Level

Assume we are testing the speed with which a user can point with a new pointing device. What margin of error might be appropriate for the estimate if we want to estimate performance of a user of Microsoft Word? What margin of error might be appropriate if we want to estimate performance of the pilot of the US space shuttle?
