COMSC 111: Information Superhighways II

DESCRIPTION: COMSC 111 is an intermediate introduction to the "Information Superhighway" using the closest thing that we have to it, the Internet. Some of the topics that this course will cover will include but not be limited to: Hypertext Markup Language (HTML), Style Sheets, Dynamic HTML (DHTML), HTML Frames, Image Maps, Forms, Common Gateway Interface, Virtual Reality Markup Language (VRML), Search Engine Query Structure, and JavaScript. 
LECTURES: Tuesdays & Thursdays 6:00-6:50 P.M.
LAB SESSION: Tuesday 7:00-9:50 P.M. 
TEXT:  Readings taken from the Internet for the first part of class. There will be a book for the second part.

GRADING:

Grades will be "curved" with score of the best performing student determining the maximum amount of points available for the final. Other students will be ranked from that score on down. All projects are assigned using the class Web page(s). The table below shows the items and the percentages that are used to determine grades:

NOTE:
  1. This class is project oriented. You must do all of the projects in order to get the maximum out of this class.
  2. Projects will range from 50 points to 200 points depending upon the level of difficulty.
  3. Projects are due on the date specified for full credit. They can be turned in up to a week late for half credit.
  4. The final exam will be given on the date specified in the class schedule.
