Resources in Exam

  • You are allowed one 8.5" x 11" sheet of notes: hand written, double sided. You can write anything you like on it.
  • No other aids permitted, such as: textbooks, calculators, dictionaries, cell-phones, pocket-gnome, poll-the-audience, or ask-a-friend.
  • I will be happy to explain non-technical terms.

Question Types

  • Some multiple choice. Warning: These tend to be challenging questions!
  • Some short answer.
  • Understand, explain, and writing C++ code and algorithms.
  • Exam written on paper: no computers.

Extra Instructor Office Hours

  • Wednesday, August 17th 12:30pm-3:30pm.
  • Thursday, August 18th 10:30pm-noon.
  • Friday, August 19th 10:30am-noon (same day as exam, for last minute clarifications).
  • Email also OK, but response time may be unreliable.

Exam Directions

  • Find a seat with an exam.
    • Do not sit near your friends or study-mates: they think like you do!
    • If you like to look around, then sit at the front.
  • Take out:
    • Your Student ID
    • Writing tools: pens, pencils, eraser, whiteout...
    • Water bottle, cookies...
  • Put everything else at the front of the room.
    • Cell phones off and at front. Not for checking time.
  • Fill out the front of the exam.
  • Any academic dishonesty may lead to a grade of 0 for the entire exam.
    • Touching a cell phone during the exam will be considered academic dishonesty.
  • Communicate only with a TA or the instructor.
  • Do not look around room at other students.
    • When thinking, look up, not around the room.
  • Cover your paper as much as reasonably possible.
  • You have 180 minutes once told to begin.
  • You may not leave the exam during the first 60 minutes, or the last 30 minutes.

Final Exam Viewing

  • Monday, August 22nd 12:30pm-3:30pm. May view in morning with special arrangements.
  • I'm happy to discuss marking and correct marking errors.
    Negotiating/insisting on more marks will lead to a remark of entire exam. Grade may go up or down!
