Assignments. Assignment 1 (Due Wednesday Feb 6th, at 23:59.). Solution (written by of Rakhshan, Andrew Kamiar) Assignment 2 (Due Friday March 7th, at 23:59.). Assignment 3 (Due Monday March 31st, at 23:59.). Assignment 4 (Due Monday Tuesday April 15th, at 23:59.). There will be 5 programming assignments each worth 4% of your total mark. The assignments will be posted here. You can checkout your marks from gradebook when they are posted by the TA’s. Submission: you should drop the printed materials (if there is any) in the assignment Drop-in box (opposite to CS General Office (in ASB) ) and your source code files (*.java, *.cpp, *.hpp, *.h) through the submission server submit.cs.sfu.ca. The submission server only accepts the zipped files. You can zip your assignment files using the winzip program or the zip, gzip linux command.
You can use any compiler that you want but you need to make sure that your program will compile under the Linux. It’s easy, create a directory called src and copy all your source files (*.java, *.cpp, *.hpp, *.h) in it then in a Linux shell type javac myprog.java for compiling your program and java myprog for running your program. For c++ user you need to run g++ *.cpp –o myprog command to compile your program and then ./myprog to run it. If you are writing in Java this should work without any problem however, your c++ source files from some compilers (for instance Visual C++) may not directly compile in Linux. Drop by my or your TA’s office hours if you have difficulty compiling in Linux. Zip all your source files in the src directory and submit it.
Late assignments: Assignments submitted after deadline will be penalized by -20% per day. For instance, if the deadline for the assignment is 10am on May 22, and you submit your assignment after 10am, May 22 but before 10am, May 23, you will be penalized with -20% of the score you would normally get from the assignment. THE ASSIGNMENTS CANNOT BE SUBMITTED LATER THAN 3 DAYS AFTER THE DUE DATE. Implementation Language: The programming problems in assignments, can be written in either JAVA or C++. It’s not necessary to learn JAVA for those who know only C++ and to learn C++ for those who know only JAVA.
