Hi Folks,
We are advising you of the closure of the ACS Assignment Lab next week,
AQ 3144. Details are provided below about other computer labs and hours
of operations for the Assingment Lab, after it is re-openned.
The workstations in the MCF, Library have had the local files, required
for VB and VC++ to operate correctly updated. THe West Mall lab will be
updated this evening.
If you have difficulties, please send a message to help@sfu.ca and
include the carrol number and the name of the lab in the details that
you provide. You can also drop by and see Don, Grant or Al in AQ 3143,
the small room to the north of the Assignment Lab with the blue door.
The School of Comupting Science has expressed it's concern for the
inconvenience this will cause you, to the university administration.
We have been informed, that there are no alternatives, our apologises.

I have just been informed that the Assignment lab will close on Monday, March 9
for renovations. The renovation will last up to one week.....finishing
on Sunday, March 15th. There is a chance they could be finished early, if
so I will open the lab early.
During this week the MCF and the Wordstation in the Library will be open
until Midnight. For the week following the closure, the Assignment will
be open 24 hours for Mon, Tue, Wed, and Thursday nights.
I apologize for the short notice but as I said, I just found out myself!
Below is information for your students on how to log into the assignment
lab from the other labs. This information will be posted on the Assgt
lab doors and in the other labs.
With the many changes that ACS have implemented for the Assignment Lab and
other distributed computing faciltiies on campus, there is a feature that
we would like you to know about. Many of you, will already be aware of
this feature.
You can access the Assignment Lab server and the applications on the
server used for your courses from other distributed
computing facility labs.
These include:
The West Mall Complex, WMX 2504
The Micro Computer Faciltiy AQ 3148
The Library, 2nd floor
The Assignment Lab AQ 3144
At the Novell Intranetware Login screen, change the information in
the "context" field to the Assignment Lab server, namely,
assignlab.dcf.sfu
Then enter your userid and password for the Assignment Lab server.
In you have further questions or difficulties about this process, please
see Don, Grant or Al in AQ 3143.
